MIE Exchange is not an open bidding or auction type of software like MFG Quote. MIE Exchange enables buyers and suppliers to create communities which interact with each other. When an RFQ comes from MIE Exchange only the selected suppliers on the RFQ reply with bids. An open bidding system is not good for the industry where you constantly get buyers fishing for low bids who never actually plan to award the RFQ. Quality suppliers are damaged by auction bidding because it puts an unrealistic expectation of pricing and does not take into account performance, on-time deliveries and a host of other items.

MIE Exchange also has document management where suppliers can view customers blueprints. Many other areas of MIE Exchange do not exist in MFG quote like awarding purchasing orders, workflow processes for b2b communication and catalogs.
